The Valentine tank was a tough and reliable workhorse of the Commonwealth and Soviet armies. Though superseded by the Churchill and Sherman on the Western Front, the 16-ton machine was also used by New Zealand forces in the Far East and continued to be used in notable in numbers by Stalin’s Red Army, who appreciated their comfort, on the Eastern Front until the end of the war.
Introduced in the Western Desert in 1940, the British army used the well-armoured tank to support the infantry’s advance. The three-man crews found the tank cramped and slow, but very reliable. Additionally, the Valentine was well armoured for its day – at 65mm thick, the steel could shrug off most hits. The tank could hit back with the 40mm 2-pounder and a Besa machine gun.
Contains one resin & metal Valentine II infantry tank, Bolt Action stat card, vehicle damage markers, full-colour decal sheet and Bolt Action Order dice.
